I normally use Seajet Shogun 033 eroding antifoul as its supposed to be good for up to 40knots, already having a few base coats of hard Interspeed Ultra underneath. I normally don't paint antifoul on either the rudders or the propshafts instead I slap a load of waterproof grease on all these parts and although its good for a short while, these exposed bits get the usual "shredded wheat" growth on them, neccessitating quite a bit of work with an angle grinder and abrasive pads to bring them up nice and shiny at lift out time.

Being a lazy git and always looking for an easier and quicker solution (there's enough to do with the rest of the cutting back and annual polish) I was wondering if it would be OK to primer and paint the rudders, stainless trim tabs and the propshafts with the same antifoul, leaving just the props slapped in grease this time.

Thanks Wiggo, will give it a try this year, some protection is better than none and if it cuts down the amount of cleaning up with the abrasive pads in half it will have been worth it

This season I have AFd the rudders and Ttabs with std stuff and tried prop shield on the bronze props and left the shafts clean. Will publish the results next lift!!
