The boatyard at my home marina routinely applies antifouling to rudders and P-brackets, including on my boat with no apparent ill effects. However, recently visiting another marina (owned by the same company), I saw a boat with rudders and brackets heavily encrusted with barnacles and no antifouling applied. I was told that because of an interaction between the copper antifouling and the bronze sterngear, one should never antifoul sterngear. Which is correct?
