Antifouling options

Haven't heard of it before but I note (a) the remarkably high initial cost and (b) references to 30' sailing boats and then to speeds of 7 - 8 knots. I'm prepared to believe that some 30' boats achieve 7 knots but mine won't unless it's surfing. Quite possible that this type of material is the future of antifouling but I'd be hesitant to be an early adopter of this product.

But elsewhere on their website they say it self-cleans "with a speed of more than 5 knots", so it's anyone's guess!

And I don't like websites which won't give their company address and phone number...

I saw it being applied to a brandnew SunFast 3300 when I was in Port La Forret earlier today.
Spoke to the owner and he had decided to go for it after a friend who had it applied to his (similar sized) sailboat and sang its praises. After 3 years, it was still doing its stuff.

Looks like an interesting development to me.
Maybe something to consider down the line.
My main 'concern' at this point is the removal process when it's no longer effective.

Have you also considered Hempel Silic One? It needs careful initial application, but can be topped up afterwards. Probably cheaper than Macglide. There's a boat in Shotley which has it and it seems to work (although it's a Pogo 12.50 which goes at the speed of light!).
