Antifouling advice please

I am just about ready to antifoul my boat before launching again for the season. I am based on the Solent and the boat stays in the water for 8-10 months at a time, without being lifted out. Can anyone offer advice on the following:
1. The type of antifoul to use for a semi-displacement hull with max speed of about 15-20kts.
2. A good value antifouling that does the job.
3. How soon after antifouling will I need to launch the boat to prevent the antifouling deteriorating.
4. Will all antifoulings adhere to antifouling already on the hull. I don't know what type is on there at the moment.

Am very satisfied with XM Antifouling from Hardway Marine* - mind you, a mid-season scrub helps!
Only used one coat, extra on the worn bits - rudder, keel etcet.
Instructions? They're on the tin.

*That's the chandlery next to the Club. free berth on their pontoon while you shop.

Jotun is both effective and less costly than most other makes. For the best prices search out where the local trawlermen buy theirs. They most certainly do not pay the silly prices that most leisure users do!

Agreed - I use Jotun Sea Guardian on my MF805. Very good it is too. 2 seasons without recoating but I do get her lifted mid-season for a jet wash. Speak to Malcolm at Shepherd Marine who is a font of knowledge.

Use Cruiser Uno - only one coat - suitable up to 25 knots. See MBMs tests of AFs. Also on page 78 of current Motor Boats Monthly. Cant remember the time to immersion but it was quite long. International paints will give guidance on what you can overpaint and immersion times

Cruiser Uno has consitently come out top for effectiveness and ease of use.. and price in fact !
If you go to International's web page, they have all the technical details.Its probably worth putting on a barrier coating , just to be sure, even though its another job! Not much point in putting on the a-foul if it isnt go to stay there long enough to work..
BTW, International told me that if you use a few coats and only do 50-75 hours a year, you could use Uno on faster boats too.

always used cruiser uno on my s/d with very good results. one good coat and a second layer on keel and around the waterline. Ive always done mine ano more than a week or so before launching but I dont think its critical.

Having removed the existing coating back to the gelcoat, abrade with a 120 grade abrasive and then wash down with detergent and freshwater to remove all sanding debris.

Apply 2 coats of Primocon followed by 2 coats of Interspeed Ultra!

This is my first time berthing/antifouling in the Med - so any constructive criticism welcome!
