Stripping all the antifoul off my motor cruiser this winter and want to replace it with a top grade product that does not build up thick layers, if at all possible. Must be able to withstand 25 - 30 knots. Suggestions please.
I have used a soft antifoul for the last two seasons, it erodes so no build up, I have found no difference in speed or fuel consumption, with two coats and a third around the edges and wear areas have found no bare patches. I used International last time.
I reckon International's Optima is excellent. After a season, the gunge virtually falls off. But if you want white, it looks a bit iffy if you have any above the waterline - turns a sort of grey/green!
Although not really rated for fast boats, mine does 35knts and it hasn't dropped off.
