First application of antifoul to a GRP hull motor boat based in Poole and used for south coastal cruising (typically 20 knots in open water). Boat will mostly be dry berthed for first 9 months with occasional pontoon berthing for up to 3 days and then permanently pontoon berthed.

I may delay antifouling until permanently pontoon berthed but if I decide to antifoul now any thoughts from the Forum on best product will be appreciated. I had in mind Seajet 33 but Hempel Hard Racing has been suggested as an alternative.

If you are dry stacked, then don’t antifoul. When pontoon berthed, use softer eroding a/f as it won’t build up so much over the years. Use hard racing if you regularly cruise at 25+knots.

Thanks for this. If the boat sits at the pontoon for a few days should I expect the build up of weed/slime to be easily rinsed off when the boat taken out of the water?

Also, is Seajet 33 a good option for eroding a/f?
