Due to the construction of the Cardiff Bay Barrage all the moorings which were in tidal salt water are now constantly afloat in fresh water.

The only growth is some sort of black slime which appears to be on all the boats I have looked at.

Can anyone with a similar experience suggest suitable antifoul for boats which are predominantly in fresh water but venture into the sea for weekends and holidays?

Presumably any saltwater growth picked up will die when returning to the freshwater mooring.

We use Epifarnis Weerdol, two coats as per tin instructions, self applied, ie not yard diluted.

ok it is available in NL,& I think here, for a boat kept in fresh, with excursions into salt for upto 9 weeks, even then only a little stringy weed grew on water line with a black / greeen slime, which prompltly died & fell off on returning to fresh.

About 45 Hfl / Ltr last year, 3.40 hfl = 1 £

all the best

I've kept my boat on the R Frome (Wareham, Poole) for the best part of 2 years now. I get a slime growth and some weed on the waterline (on the shaded side). I have decided not to A/F. I have used ‘Boot Top’ 3” above and a foot below the waterline. I then beach her March and September for a quick scrub down. It works fine for me.
