after spending the last hour wading round my boat in my undies (got the tides wrong and left it too late for drying out) scrubbing of weed, does anyone actually know of an antifoul that does what it is meant to do.

I put TeaMac erodible on last year in March, one coat, and she has been in the water since then. Some weed now, but no real barnacle infestation.

No

James Jermain painted his bottom (or at least Sweet Lucy's) last year with all the main types, in patches near waterline and well below.

The telling part of the story published in YM was the admission that some areas of the previous years stuff that was between the new areas due to masking tape, had less fouling than the new stuff.

I'd already planned not to a/f this year as the stuff has got so crap. I've just scrubbed for the first time - admitedly 2 weeks later than planned - I reckoned no significant growth until June, so first scrub mid-June. My last years a/f had a layer of slime and some lightly attached shells.

Will dry out and scrub in a further 5-6 weeks.

Added benefit, instead of building up layers of a/f, I'm actively reducing them.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes. TBT if you can get your hands on it. Lasts two full seasons and NO weed.

I agree Flag is great stuff (be sure to get the original stuff from Screwfix- not the new low cost 'cruiser version')
I antifouled in February 2005, came out for first scrub two weeks ago expecting to need at least 2 new coats but after a jetwash saw that last years antifoul is still in good enough shape to last for the rest of the year.

The mullet in my old marina (Dover) did a brilliant job of keeping the slime down.

It was best not to antifoul as the mullet didn't like it so much.
