I am a total nut about keeping the boat free of the damage from overwinter moisture. Soo, I have tracked down a co who make vacuum bags and ordered some. You put blankets, sheets, anything innem, the use a vacuum cleaner to suck the air out, and no more soggy duvets etc. Or that's the theory. Packing things in bags and squeezing the air out complety worked v well last year, so bet this wil be even better. This should be okay to store things in more often instead of just over winter. Anyway, I have just order em and they might work fine, or not. The site is a bit trailer-trashy, but then so's the product. http://www.storeshop.com

I seem to recall my local safeways plugging these not so long ago. Vacuum bag your clothes and voila no problems fitting em in your suitcase for your fortnight in Torremolinos!

I saw them on a TV shopping channel, as well as the wonder wax and the tuxedo paint system, which is what put me off really ! I only wonder if duvets, pillows etc really recover from being crushed up. Otherwise the manufacturers would do it in the 1st place to save on packaging, storage, transport ......

Errrrrrr........don't think you have really thought that through. Firstly, they would need to get the customer to pay the extra squids it would cost. Secondly, and more difficult, they would need to persuade the punter to do without the expensive and oh so wasteful 'sales' packaging.

For what its worth, we use these bags and have found them excellent. QVC do quite a useful set of 8 for less than £30. And duvets don't mind being crushed..........no egos you see!! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Bit over the top innit? Your duvets only cost €5 from L'eclerc or Carrefour in the first place

yes of course, much better keep all your stuff in a nice central heated house ovber winter where all the plants might drop dead but the beds are nice and warm. But bit of a prob if you gave loads of gear, and perhaps more important, this is a good idea for leaving the boat for a fortnight in sept oct or nov and avoid that "heavy duvet" feeling.
