My boat came with a large drum of antifreeze which I have been using over the years to dilute into the coolant water. It is now all used up and I dont have the drum details. It appears that the type of antifreeze I buy may matter.

My question is does anyone recommend a good source of "ethylene glycol" anti freeze with "sodium nitrate" or "sodium benzoate" inhibitor? A telephone discussion with my local Halfords advised me that they do not stock and can not order in ethylene glycol anti freeze. Any other advice on this matter appreciated.

... Traditional blue ethylene glycol is a toxic but highly effective antifreeze; it contains silicates as an inhibitor to help prevent corrosion in engines with mixed metals in their make-up. ...
Choosing the Right Coolant for Your Car
... There are three main types of coolant that car companies use: Inorganic Additive Technology (IAT), Organic Acid Technology (OAT), and Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT). Typically, older cars use IAT. ...

... 2 If an antifreeze mixture, other than Perkins POWERPART, is used to prevent frost damage, it must have an ethanediol base (ethylene glycol) with a corrosion inhibitor. It is recommended that the corrosion inhibitor is of the sodium nitrite or sodium benzoate type. The antifreeze mixture must be an efficient coolant at all ambient temperatures and it must provide protection against corrosion. It must also have a specification at least as good as the requirements of the standards below:
United Kingdom: BS.6580 MOD AL39: "Specification for corrosion inhibiting, engine coolant concentrate (antifreeze)". ...
