so my bottom isnt as clean as i'd like it, there is a light green film developing on there :(

this is a result of mooring in the Solent in a dirty muddy area i presume, all the boats around me had shiny A/F which all have a little slime attached now even the fancy one with copper coat.

i'd like to give it a clean without lifting it out which should be fairly straight forward but if i "scrub" it am i not just removing the A/F and making life harder for myself?

what are theses foam "scrubbis" poles like can i give it a wipe with one of these without removing too much A/F and keep doing this every so often?

new A/F was applied in Feb.

Depends on the type of AF. Most common is erodable and yes you may rub some off - but that is how it works. If it is hard type you will not rub off but you will still have a hard covering at the end of the year even if the AF content has ceased to work.

thanks it is the erodible stuff, do you happen to know if the scrubbis poles are any good? they're £70 - a bit steep for a sponge on a pole!

Never bothered but the racy folks in our club use an assortment of devices to scrub their bottoms. As my boat is Coppercoated and the club charge for a lift and powerwash is £75 you can guess what I do! Reminds me must book a lift in the next couple of weeks.

I find the erodable stuff works best if you can get the boat up above 8 Kts for an hour or two. Cheaper than a lift out and can be fun.
