Just got a new S23, now moored at Port Solent.

Looking at maintenance costs/options for coming year. Just wondered if anyone has opted for the boatscrubber service as opposed to the usual lift-out/anti-foul/re-launch routine. Looking at the pricing I can get 12 scrubs significantly cheaper than the cost of a lift/anti-foul and re-launch.

Anyone got any experience (good or bad) of this?

Kim - spotted Calm Voyager in the literature for the boatscrubber service - do you still get her anti-fouled?

I've used the boatscrubber at Haslar, several times to reasonable good effect. However the mechanics and program of the system are not suited to twin screwed vessels, as the brushes get caught in between the shafts & the hull. So every time I had to be finished off by a diver. I think it's good for yachts & possibly outdrive boats.
Another drawback is that the brushes are naturally quite abrasive, so unless you have a particularly hard antifoul, there is a possibilty of it being partially removed. I know they are working on finding a more resillient type.
I think in principal, it can be quite cost effective. For a new boat with no antifoul on at all, and the right hull shape, it would be great. I looked at it for this year, but as I needed to take my boat out anyway, I have decided to stick with antifoul.
Hope that helps.
