Went and bought my antifoul yesterday. Price seems to have shot up rather.

Anyway bought Seajet 033 Shogun. This is what it says in the blub, Copy and paste

Ideal for: High fouling areas for all types of boats Test winning heritage Two coats will last two seasons Boats up to 40 knots Coverage: 8.8m per litre

Anyone agree with me that the bit in bold is well not completely true. :)

The coat will last two seasons.

But at the end of the second season, you’ll also be carrying around 250kg of seaweed, a small tree, six crabs and an octopus.

Three coats of that were covered in green 'hair' about 5mm long after seven weeks in the Hamble. I'm trying a different brand and type of fertiliser this year.

I'm hoping to get two seasons out of my a/f and I know others do as well.

From looking at boats moored in the med it seems that foul grows far slower. Perhaps it is the laid back way of life. In and around Felixstowe anti foul seems shot after about 4 months

BI-ANNUAL for us, use jotun no problems, yes we get a coat of slime but no growth that hangs off the hull. Same goes for anodes zinc guard 9kg bar/bolt on good gear.

I had Seajet 033 on my previous boat, 3 months on the Hamble then remainder of year in Torquay. Using the boat most weekends saw her 'self-clean'.

Lift and jetwash at the end of the season for sea trial showed a very thin covering of slime. The new owner hasn't re-antifouled this year.

I apply it every year, don't really believe in the last two season bit as the boat is already slower by the end of the season. I recommend Premier One (https://www.premiermarinepaints.co.uk/types/antifouling) which works very well and is an eroding antifoul so it self primes when you need to re-coat. Used for many years on the Solent. For the Outdrive and props I use Seajet 034 with good results compared to Trilux.
