Hello, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post!

We have a small power boat (Dory 13) with a 20hp engine.

I have just sanded off some blue paint (perhaps anti-foul but can't be sure) that was on the hull where the waterline is.
After sanding there is the cream coloured paint that covers the whole boat underneath where the blue paint was.

The boat is not left on the water; it is used 2 days a week average for about an hour on the river Trent.
The boat can go fast (probably over 20 knots) but there is a speed limit so is normally travelling at 4 knots.

Was wondering if anyone could help me to choose the correct paint - I'm hoping to do this as cheap as possible, but I would like the job done correctly.

We also have another boat (a rowing boat called an ASC) that has been left on the river, it was sanded down to the fibreglass and coated in standard blue gloss that had been thinned)

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will answer any questions as best I can.
I will provide photos but I will have to take them tomorrow, so if there is a particular photo that will help please tell me and I'll take the picture (of either boat)

And again, thanks for the help!

Welcome to the forum.

Quite simply you don't need any paint at all if the boat is dry stored so no need to spend anything!

Again, welcome to the forum. Yep, I agree with LJS, no antifoul needed. You should check if the hull is galvanised or otherwise protected from corrosion.

Yes agreed, no antifouling needed if you regularly take it out of the water, however your rowing boat could do with a bit of antifouling if left in all the time. I know you are not going fast in it but it will help to keep it clean and perhaps easier to row!
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the quick replies and sorry for my slow reply.
That's really helpful and is going to save me some money, thanks!

The rest of the powerboat's hull (not below waterline) and inside is all cream and I was wondering that if I wanted to repaint it to make it look clean, what paint should I use?
I saw some paint on a website that is called "Premier Hull & topside paint" but couldn't find anything similar.
Also would I just paint it on top of what's already there or would I need to sand down and use a primer?
P.S. There was a hole in the hull's fibreglass - and was repaired, this now leaves bare fibreglass, would this need covering, or does it not matter as it isn't left on the water?

Hi..

If by Dory 13 you think of the Dell Quay (grp) galvanizing isn't an option.

As stated it does not need any antifoul unless left in the water, but if you want to paint it a marine primer and paint is way to go.
