I am thinking of fitting an AIS transponder antenna onto a S/S pole fixed to stern rail.
The extra height hopefully giving a bit more range and protection of crew from any transmission effects.

Where can I get a fitting to fix to the top of the pole to accept the standard 25mm 14x tpi thread on the antenna?

Thanks

To fit a 1-14tpi base antenna, such as GPS antennas and some vhf antennas, to a plain 1" tube you need an adapter which has a 1" hole in the base with allen screws to secure it and the 1-14tpi male at the other end, about 2" long. Google antenna mast adapter - I've seen them in the UK, about £10.00.

You can also buy extension poles that have the 1-14tpi thread on the end - Glomex make one, amongst others.

Our AlphaOne whip antenna uses an adapter so you can fit it to a 1-14tpi base. A whip antenna with it's broad radiation pattern mounted on a pole is a really good arrangement:
