Are there any special tips to freeing machine screws put in with loctite or similar?.

I'm trying to remove the end shroud clamp on the crosstrees; 2 of the 4 have come out with extreme effort and I think they must have been put in in 1980 in Finland.
I tried all the usual squirties.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Malcolm

Anthony You know as well as I do that sods law comes into play here however if all the "squirty" tricks have been applied sometimes heat will expand the corrosion enough to allow the ingress of these fluids which can maybe allow the wretched bolt/screw to start moving!
PS like your web site graphics

"Squirty" methods will need time to soak in. If they don't work after a week, why not pour boiling water over? When loosening, as said, it can work to tighten first - but a tight fitting spanner persuaded with a hammer is probably best, it puts all the force into shearing the locked surfaces from each other, not twisting the top off the stud.

Thanks for all the verbal help!

HEAT did the trick - a good blast of gas torch plus extreme unction and we had lift off!!

Just a suplimentary; the spreader is an alloy of ally - I need new screws, whats the best?, there is really only the option of stainless steel or brass?
Its m4 thread and I've got the tap to clean up the thread so it should be Tally Ho when I get the new shrouds.
Many thanks

Malcolm
