Antares 980 tender and Torqeedo

Hello guys, I'm currently in the process of buying an Antares 980 and am looking at options for attaching a tender and outboard.Presumably snap davits work ok but I'm wondering how they affect the access on/ off the stern especially when berthing stern- to. Would have a dinghy up to 3m ideally.

Also looking at a Torqeedo 1003C and wondering if anyone has any experience with them- are they powerful enough to get a 2.5m/3m inflatable across a tidal estuary (say from the anchorages off East Mersea across to Brightlingsea) in a bit of a chop?

Can't help you with the davits question but I have a Torqeedo and a 3.2m inflatable. I find it amply powered to punch the dinghy two up into the tide in Chichester harbour. (not tried the bar...!).

It won't get a dinghy onto the plane though, so if you want that then you need to look elsewhere. The instant "go"and very easy transfer between boat and dink is a winner.

We had a 980 with davits. With the dinghy attached you're never going to be access the stern unless you slide the transom forward and hope you can scramble around the dinghy without falling in the drink. We have the same dinghy on the swim platform of our new boat but carry it nose down and held on with ropes. We have fitted the same davits as on the 980 to use when we arrive wherever we want to use the dinghy.

As an aside, we bought a new Antares navy cockpit cover and had a Bimini cover made to match which we never used if you're interested ?

Thanks Scala- sounds promising- I like the idea of the Torqeedo from the point of view of attaching to the dinghy whilst out on the water and putting it in storage without worrying about oil and fuel leaking etc

We had a Torquuedo for 3 years with heavy old 3m rib and it was fine even with 6 people and luggage - but not fast

Thanks RupertW- sounds good- I'm not bothered about speed- just being able to push through a bit of wind/ tide to get ashore safely.
