Brought my boat in to drying harbour to replace the prop anode. I’ve discovered that the thread which connects the anode to the prop nut has stripped so ordered a new nut. Can anyone confirm the direction of thread on this nut, right handed prop? I’m going to be crawling around in stinking mud (albeit on a tarpaulin) and don’t want to be tightening the bloody thing by mistake! Anti-clockwise to unscrew?

The thread inside the nut, taking the bolt going through and holding the anode, is standard right hand on both my props.

The anode design decides the bolt type - mine are for M6 ALLEN BOLT HEX HEAD + washer. I use stainless and thread-lock when fitting.
Thanks for this but it’s the prop shaft nut thread I need to check. The M8 thread inside the nut holding the anode has stripped, probably when I picked up a builders 1 ton tote bag round the prop.

Maybe it's the picture angle, but I can't see a tab washer. Maybe it's there, maybe it's never had one, but I would have thought it should have one.
There is a tab washer, which doubtless will break when I unbend it. Only a month of the season to go so I’ll do the best I can to get it all secure, if I can get the nut off, then check everything when it’s on the hard. Maybe a good opportunity to get the prop refurbed and an inch of pitch taken off.

Hopefully you have done it now but yes, anticlockwise to unscrew. 41mm AF spanner. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Laser-To...-d373bf22acf7&epid=2222164355&redirect=mobile

Huge waste fitting a new nut, a thread repair helicoil set would be cheaper and easier.
I might well do that when I’m not crawling around under the boat in a stinky harbour with the tide threatening to inundate me 😱 Providing the nut comes off ok 10 minutes should see me done and dusted with new nut and anode in place 🤞

Finally got the new nut and kindly tide, job ended up taking 5 minutes 👍 The most difficult part was actually unbending the tab washer, also hadn’t thought through the prop not being locked by a hydraulic gearbox although a quick tap with a lump hammer on the spanner got things moving…
