\'Ansome is as \'ansome does
I've long held that our practice in this country is too far distorted in favour of 'complaining'. Every company has a well-developed and advertised complaints procedure, but few have an equally-funded 'compliments' process.
I believe in and practice going out of my way to make a 'compliment' known to management where warranted. There are positive benefits - 'good' behaviour is reinforced and tends to recur, management tend to praise and favour the praised member, other staff see this and tend to raise their game, and it all costs nothing.
However, I do get a better trade discount at a couple of stores where I've given 'credit where due' - although that's not a reason.
So, my thanks today is directed at Henshaw Inflatables, in Wincanton. I needed a small piece of Hypalon fabric to repair a little hole in an inflatable hull and - knowing them to have been helpful in the past - phoned them. I indicated that a piece the size of an ordinary A5 or A6 envelope would be sufficient, and their Factory Manager agreed to forward an offcut.
I was certainly prepared to pay both for the material and the postage, of course, but a courier company has just delivered a package containing an offcut that is about 60"x 18" at no charge - and it's even the right colour!
Take a bow, Henshaw Inflatables!
