Exmoor. Boat in Dartmuff.

Have just implemented a cam on board at Dartmuff.

Take a look here. Looks a tad unpleasant right now!

Note that IE is not capable of displaying streaming jpegs. Firefox or Opera are fine. If you simply must use IE then there is a suitable plugin here.

When you first go there you will be asked for a user name and password viewer/viewer should do the trick. You should be presented with a console screen. If you look under "Name" and click on PT you should see a bit of Dartmuff in all its glory. Bear in mind this is under the spray hood so it aint gonna be wunnerful.

BTW Pan and Tilt are available but I'm not dumb enough to publish those. If anyone really wants to try it pm me and I'll give you a username/password.

Comments welcome.

Cheers,

Colin

Are you going to do anything like making time-lapse movies? They could be fun and you could keep it running whilst out on the boat...

Its really designed as a security system. I'll be putting a camera inside the boat and another outside. The software is capable of motion detection so I can store footage both locally and off site.

This trial is just a bit of fun.

The camera in this case is a Panasonic, but the make is actually immaterial. Most of the software is available as open source on the web. The off site stuff is custom written.

The set up is not too long a job but does require a certain knowledge of iptables (Linux firewall control).

As I said earlier this is really intended as a security measure. The live view is just for fun, although its nice to be able to see the boat from the office.

Cheers,

Colin

It's raining. I logged onto site to watch rain!

Lovelyish, here in Cheshire today....well, it's not raining.

EDIT:

Somethings loose in the bottom right corner.

Thanks.

I am on to your cunning plan, which is as cunning as a very cunning thing.

By posting this webcam link you have enabled a security watching service of hundreds of eyes, night and day, all over the world.

Similar to LakeSailor posting the Lake Windermere camera link. Since he did that it hasn't been stolen once.

Cunning.
