Here is another very fine little ship, details of whom arrived in my mailbox today from Djurgardsvarvet :

LittleShip2-Medsjo.jpg

I am signed up on their mailing list - these folk mostly handle a very motley and diverse range of just about every type of commercial vessel for sale (sailing ships included), the likes of which you would probably never see on yacht brokers websites.
More details I hope at this link : http://www.djurgardsvarvet.se/infotack.e.php?ship=Medsjo

You might have to register with them as a subscriber first though before you can open the pdf.

It leads on to a rather large pdf file which is a bit over 4 MB in size, but there are some impressive photos there.
Isn't she just gorgeous?

They also have a website at www.shipsforsale.se

She has twin Volvo TAMD 122 BCC (?) diesels, 356 hp each, connected to a twin input single output 5:1 reduction gearbox and has a cruising speed of 7.5 knots on one engine (40 litres / hour), or 10 knots on two at full chat. A lot of fishing trawlers have gearboxes like this - makes a lot of sense really.
Her bunkers hold 18,000 litres, so that gives her a range of about 3,000 miles. But if diesel costs a pound per gallon, a transatlantic voyage will still be rather expensive.....

And she certainly is tough - they are not joking when they call her an ice-breaker - minimum hull shell (steel) thickness a couple of years ago when she was 25 years old was 10 mm....... ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

(They give no indication of asking price, just 'best offer'......)

10 kts?
That's a Speed Boat, compared to the other Little Ship that pops up on ere occasionally!.
Asking Price?
I,d give a Tad more than the Forum Limit for that Canoe sterned Little Ship.
Weather Forecast
"Winds North West 5/6 occasionally 7, Backing Veering Cyclonic "etc etc . "24 hour Forecast Low over Iceland Gales Later"
So what lets go anyway!
Lovely looking Boat /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have this debate in my head quite often about boating, as to what constitutes beautiful. Yes, I think she is. Just in the same way as I like the looks of the Botnia Targa range of boats. As opposed to say Fairline or Sealine. What would I buy if I really had the money? Hmmm...

I could easily fall in love with this, but for 2 things,1, where would you park a 20mtr x 6mtr steel trawler, without it costing the earth? 2,no idea what she would cost, they say on their site "ask us for guide"

but I think she a cracking little ship, as for the fuel thing, with all the certificates you would get red at commerical rates,as an ice breaker in the solent /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
