Another treat for all you rowing fans...

The event listed occupies one reach of approx 2 miles. That leaves appr. 136 miles of non tidal Thames on which there is no rowing event on that day.
Most rowers time their practice early morning or late evening to avoid clashes with other river users.
This, I think, is already the 3rd rant about rowing this year. I notice no rants about the sailing clubs which lay exclusive claim to certain stretches of the river more frequently than rowers.
After many years rowing on the Thames, can I assure forumites that there is a significant proportion of ill mannered, inconsiderate motorboaters apparently with limited competence and knowledge of basic rules of the road some of whom are dangerous (but not, of course, members of this panel)

Not witnessed such rudeness and arrogance from sailing clubs in 37years, fact.

True, there are rude motorboaters, and nobody is excusing them.

So, as in your opinion rowers want to avoid clashes with other river users - when are they going to pay their fair share of the running costs of the river?

Alex (Rebellion) competed in the final of the Novice Mens single at Marlow this morning against Eton Excelsior.

Apparently he "smashed them"!

:)

And here is a picture of him winning his medal.

The chap from Eton Excelsior is quite some distance behind......... :) The official result says 4 lengths.

Quite so. By the law of unintended consequences this wakes me up with the boat being shaken by the "safety" boat's wash, or...but that makes me sound like a grump! Most clubs make a sensible effort to share the river, and as ever its a few bad apples.

Sailing Clubs don't tend to buoy off the river in quite the same way1
