Another \"term to be explained\"

Following on from the earlier post about "terms to be explained", one that has intrigued me is that on my GPS, rather than the ususal ETA - Estimated Time of Arrival - at the next waypoint, is says ETE. Nothing in the handbook - can anyone clear this up?

It does mean "Estimated Time Enroute", which is a duration, as opposed to ETA which is a time of day.

Thanks for asking that ! I had assumed that it was Estimated Time Elapsed like the aviation ' EET ' Estimated Elapsed Time.

However of course that never really worked except just at the end of the passage..
