...This one is a real antique.

Some time back, another forumite (Wiggo, I think) posted some pictures of his distant youth, in a boat on the Broads. I couldn't find the relic below, at the time, but have since done so and here it is.

It's me, aged about 8 or 9, I think, at the helm of a small runabout. My dad, looking suprisingly relaxed all things considered, is in the passenger seat.

Although the background is a bit blurred, anybody care to hazard a guess where the photo was taken? (If Scuttlebutt can do it, I don't see why we can't). It's changed a bit since the pic. was taken..........

Yes, it was an Evinrude.

Without boring everyone to death, the Hunt 14 was designed by Ray Hunt, originally for the Canadian Navy, as a general purpose runabout. Not suprisingly it looked, and handled, like a baby Bertram. My Old Man ran the Company that imported and sold them in the UK, and we had a lot of fun in the demo model pictured here.

The photo was taken some time in the winter, from Warsash slipway - the Harbourmaster wasn't quite so worried about speed limits in those days and, if I remember rightly, there weren't many people around to complain at the time! I don't suppose we'd get away with it today..... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
