Planning a trip from Lymington to Yarmouth tomorrow (Saturday). With a bit of luck then at this time of year there will even be enough room for me to moor in Yarmouth Harbour.

If anyone is about I'll be leaving Lymington at about 10:45 so give me a wave.

No,no,no, your not playing the game! You should have posted this about 3 weeks ago, then we could have had a thread as diverse as planning, non-planning, pubs to be visited, at least 15 changes of agenda then all the replies extolling the virtues of the area, food, drink etc. Cant believe I just typed that with only one full stop!

Outrageoues - fancy posting this with 24 hrs to go ......... smak the dead donky (sorry hlb) no no no no where were YOU at Poole eh - i say where were you ...

nice weather for it.. flat calm, light air and the sun's out... now, why couldn't we have had weather like that for the poole run??

all the best have a good trip, steve.

Had a great trip. Weather was good although a little choppy around the heads which was not really a problem. Plenty of room in Yarmouth despite a flotilla of raggies enjoying their vin chaude.

Topped up with food at the Wheatsheaf and the large portions were quite a struggle despite all the practice this christmas.

Made it home in time for go-karting in the evening and despite the weight penalty I did not disgrace myself.

Still wondering whether to winterise or go for just one more trip?

you should have stuck your nose out past the Needles if you wanted a litlte more fun - the swell was er "interesting" at times but regular enough to play aeroplanes ..........

my fishing companions didn't appreciate this particular aspect of my driving however.

Had I seen your post in time I would have joined you in Yarmouth in preference to anchoring for hours on end in a miserable swell chasing elusive cod - with conger conger conger is was a swell party (sry!)

time for Phaeton to be lifted for outdrive maintenance so I wil lhave to miss any trips in the first couple of weeks of January but count me in after that

Happy new year to all

Duncan,

Whilst recovering at lymintgton I met someone else who had been fishing out past the needles and also described the conditions as interesting!

He had had a bl**** awful day (his description not mine). Had only caught two pouting and to cap it all he had damaged his boat on recovery, I think it was an Arvor.

I will pick your brains about fishing next time we meet. So far I have been singularly unsuccesful although not tried that hard. Just a few mackerel for the pot and to keep the kids interested would be a good start.

And a happy new year to you.
