Another gusty night...

Its another gutsy night in the Deleted User household. Looks like we've got a dose of the norovirus. Btw this virus can be caught over the internet so anyone reading this has just got it

Hope everyone's fastened their boats and covers etc as it's brewing up again down here - 60-70kts at the Mouth of the Dart!

Gawd, which way is it blowing Robin, I have 2 zips gone on my covers, but we are tucked away in the lee of Princess Pier if its blowing anything that doesnt have an "East" in it... if not we could be in the turine ....

Not good then, it's currently SE or SSE and blowing an absolute hoolie. The worst direction for anywhere in Lyme Bay and just about as strong as I can remember from that direction. Just take a look at the Exmouth seafront webcam for an idea as to how bad it is.

"Thanks" ... fingers crossed. Chap behind us said that he planned on sleeping the boat on New Years eve and gave up around 21.00 as it was too rough with water crashing over the Pier, etc, just hope it veers around soon. Forecast indicates a narrow band heading Eastwards...

175deg now so worst has probably passed in terms of direction. Seems to be getting a bit quieter out there too but still very gusty. Fingers crossed for your covers!

Crikey - I hope you're a heavy sleeper :ambivalence: It's noisy enough at home without all those halyards etc! Hold on tight if you venture outside too - I could hardly stand up on Torquay sea front earlier...

Actually, I'm one of the worlds lightest sleepers, so it might be a loooooong night. I've strapped Rafiki down as tightly as I dare, but there is still a bit of movement. The fly cover is cracking an booming, and it is poring down. And there is a good thread on moving to the med :)

Beesands this morning.

What you can see is the green (should be grass)and the border fence with the road the other side where you could park nose in against the substantial sea defence boulders and leave plenty of room for cars to pass behind.

The pipework scattered all over and is left over from the caravan park which closed around 20 years ago. There were 30' caravans on the grass on the far side of the road, just behind the beach!

I might admit to positioning the signpost for scenic effect!

Been a windy old day too! looks like more is on the way!

Dont now what time it was last night but our labrador went mental as there was a 10 minute spell where the wind was really honking!

hope everyones boats are ok still.

Well, I have to report that not much sleep occured on Rafiki last night! I was snug enough in the cabin, but the fenders were farting away all night long. No manners!! The fly cover also created the occasional boom when the wind from the South got in under it. The odd downpour hit the cabin roof, and fortunately stayed there.
Still blowing a gale here in Brizzle this evening.

Very interesting in Kingsbridge on the morning tide on the 4th. I've never seen waves like it, so far up the estuary.
Watched a twin masted yacht come haring upstream/downwind and decide to ram us with her stern. Luckily the wind was so strong it only hit us a passing blow twice. She had broken free from further downstream. On the pontoon opposite our quay a fishing boat had lost its stern line and was violently ramming their berth.
A small yacht, moored in front of us, disappeared - its now moored up safely in Fore Street perhaps.!!
This was all witnessed from some 200 miles away via a webcam.
You feel very very helpless when you can see the situation developing but can't do anything to prevent it.
Very helpful HM staff inspected our Baby Targa from alongside and reported back that the only damage seemed to be superficial.
Will find out more next week when we take her out of the water for a quick antifoul, leg service and mooring line inspection. Shall we put her strait back in?? Mmm!!! Horse bolted perhaps!!

Am on the boat in Brixham, boat is rocking and rolling, wind is whistling through the masts but the boat is very well stocked:)

spent most of the 4 hours of my Driver Awareness course doing my passage plan to Poole, might pop into Weymouth for breakfast/lunch so will drop you a line Shawn
