I don't know if anyone can help with this but...

I am aware that if I have a 60hp 2stroke at full open throttle it will use on average about 6 gallons per hour. At flat out with just me onboard I will cruise at about 26 knots.

Is there any rough calculations for guessing fuel consumption at anything other than full open? I'm looking to plan some trips out and remove some of the guess work. For instance, if I was going 20nm and cruising that distance at 14knts how much fuel will is use?

I know there wil be nothing certain but anything closer to a simple guess would be be great if anyone knows of anything...

Every boat is different but you can get an average, if your on average weight I suggest you fill the boat up at your home port and on a nice day cruise at a comfortable speed, not thrashing it but comfortable for say one hour to another Marina and fill it up, that will tell you what you use in an hour, you can work it out from there

Totally agree with SolentPhill. It doesn't sound very scientific but it's the only real way to know who much fuel your boat uses over a given period at a given speeds. Either that or buy one of those fuel monitors that when configured will tell you how much you've used and also how much you're using at any one time so you adjust to the most economical speed. Navman make one I think.
