I'm trying to nurse along a very old '3 way' absorption fridge. It's a 'Groenland' T725 made by Camping Gaz. Posted similar before but can't find it, so starting again...

It's never worked on 220volts since I had it, and it seems the previous owner has actually removed any and all mains voltage wiring, lamps and controllers.

The cooling fins inside the fridge have now stopped working at all, but the small ice box compartment works fine on gas and 12volt. They each appear to have separate thermostats, so my best guess would be the thermostat for the fridge cooler is broken.

It's waaaay to old and obsolete to get spares (unless anyone here knows any different).

Is there likely to be a way of bypassing the thermostat so the it just stays on? At least then i can at least test if thats the problem.

Thanks

I would think if you trace the wires and short out the thermostat that would test it as you are asking.

However having just last winter replaced our ageing Electrolux 3 way fridge with an Indel Webasto Isotherm 12v only model, I would strongly recommend going down that route as I'm wondering why we didn't replace ours years ago. OK it's an expensive solution, but is so much better.

Performance has surpassed expectations, although partially down to being able to optimise the installation.
Capacity - about double for the same hole size (more depth)
Battery consumption I expected would be around 35Ah per day, but has only used 5Ah overnight. The benefits of an extra 25mm of Kingspan fitted all round and Smart Energy control.
Completely automatic - no worries about having to switch from gas to battery or mains and vice-versa evry time we leave / arrive.
