Another E10 Question

Sorry about posting an automotive rather than a boaty question, but I have a worry that perhaps Refueller could help with; I've just purchased a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, and the Handbook says use diesel with a biofuel content no higher than E7 standard, otherwise damage will occur to seals and other parts of the fuel system . Diesel in Ireland seems to be all E10 and the Government seems set on increasing the ethanol percentage even further. I'm aware of the discussion there has been on these forums regarding biofuel and its effefcts on the fuel systems of boats , but I'd like to know will my car survive?

Presumably you mean B7 and B10. E numbers refer to ethanol in gasolne. B numbers refer to FAME ( fatty acid methyl ester) in diesel

Some info here. B10 diesel fuel: vehicle compatibility list – ACEA – European Automobile Manufacturers' Association including a link to a compatibility list.

Id suggest you contact your Hyundai dealer for advice

Thanks for the info. I stand corrected regarding the initial, it's just that the Owner's handbook referred to "E7".
