My Oukitel RT5 Rugged WaterProof Tablet has conked out after 12 months of use. It got wet and now proudly displays the Black Screen of Death.
Amazon after much complicated faffing are alledgedly going to give me a full refund( and closed my account making it difficult/impossible to chase or follow any refund)

Does one
A. Get another or similar Android tablet and again renew the just expired Navionics App.
or
B. Buy one of those neat little ready to go plotters avaialble on Visit my Harbour.

Already a have treasured collection of fragile Ipads with useless battery life, all boasting cracked screens and which conk out when hot, thank you very much.

I feel your pain. I have a number of tablets that have suffered after being dropped.

I find it easier to have charts on my smartphone.

I use Navionics Boating on an old android tablet.
I'm tempted to have a look at other options as the tablet is losing battery life.
There are some aspects of the Navionics ecosystem I really don't like.

I have a standalone GPS, GPS apps on other devices and a folio of paper charts.
I don't have much confidence in Android consumer devices, so I wouldn't rely on a single device.

It's nice to have the tablet as something everyone on the boat can look at, rather than relying on a personal phone.

LCP systems are very good value for money, but I found that, coming to the end of one chart, I had to sail off the edge of the world before the next one loaded. There were also details on the charts that were several years out of date, like the Hardway pontoon having a kink, which must have changed 15 years ago.

The supplied Samsung rugged plotter wouldn't run Navionics, so that is now Madame's, and I have a 10" Dogee, which runs it just fine. (see the other thread)

Wow! What did you manage to do to be cancelled by Amazon! That’s a first in my experience.

Not sure what you are doing to your devices, but a standard tablet in a waterproof case plus Navionics seems to suit most people.

Would appear to be the favoured route at the the mo.

Have no idea.......Only ever purchased 3 or 4 items via Amazon and the Oukitel was the only thing have ever returned.

I bought a terrible, cheap android tablet around 7 years ago - it now runs only Navionics, but we use it on deck, with no protection and it simply won't die.

It's so rubbish, I plan route on a better tablet below and then transfer it - which works very well in Navionics. I reckon that any protective case would cost more than the tablet.

This technique means that the routes are all backed up & available on 3 other devices.

One idea is to buy something cheap 2nd hand and don't worry about it.

o_Oo_OAmazon issued a refund on a gift card...
Tried to order a Doogee rugged tablet on Amazon using the "Gift Card" method and Amazon refused to allow the order to go through due to the gift card being restricted to "Digital Products" only.
Spent another 30 mins going through multiple hoops and going 10 rounds with their automated "Trying to make you give up the will to live" deterrent system.
A vague possiblity of getting the money back via the bank.
All I wanted was another blimming Tablet.

My nav tablet came with the boat a few years aback and it was old then.
I'm not really bothered about transferring routes or anything , I just want a map with the hazards on it and to know where I am on the map.

I like to have a back up solution for that.
I like the back up to be independent, rather than having a bunch of interlinked things that can be broken by the same problem.
My nav tablet has been in 'airplane' mode for over a year now, so is immune from 'updates', login issues and other forms of 'progress'.
Trouble is, it takes a long time to boot up and get a GPS fix and has ever shorter battery life.
