Does anyone know what the connector socket is on the back of a car radio that takes the multilead from a CD changer. A friend has a broken one on the back of his radio, and I could fit a new one if I knew where to source one from. Its a PCB mounted, right angle circular multi way connector, but I have no idea of the design or manuafacturer. Any car radio experts out there who can identify it or tell me where to source one from? The things are standard on car radios that will control a CD changer, so hopefully someone will know what it is.

I would photograph the one I need if I had one to photograph, but the old one is so damaged and broken up it would not help!

In-car units usually have an 8-pin mini ISO socket for the CD changer. Not sure where you'd buy one from though, probably best to ask a decent ICE repair shop.

A few years ago i made the mistake of chopping an autochanger lead. I managed to buy a plug for a kenwood changer at RS or could of been maplins.

I appreciate that there are no specific sockets on that web-page but the leads do seem to have round plugs and are for in-car CD players.

It would only take a quick phone call to the shop to inquire the name of that type of socket as they are specialists in that particular area and if anyone should know, they will.

Blaupunkt, Clarion and Kenwood have used 13-pin DIN sockets, so if you get in touch with an ICE dealer handling those makes you may be able to get a replacement. Alternatively, it's possible to buy sockets which go on the end of a lead, so you could get one of these and wire it to the pcb.
