Another chandlery almost closed

Went to Hobbs to get a few bits and pieces today, and the half empty shelves are the result of Ray having to leave, due to the possible restaurant conversion. Ray has worked at the Hobbs site for 50 years or so. He's going to help out the Val Wyatts chandlery two days a week, but is very sad at having to close his business down.

He's always been a great help to local boaters, and several times sorted out problems to do with boats broken down at the Trad Rally, quickly getting parts in etc.

Wasn't the story put about at the end of last season, that the chandlery was moving across the river to Hobbs' other site, and therefore would continue??

Obviously no longer so, but a great shame none theless.

That was the story & Ray hoped it would come off...... can't really say too much but he was disappointed it didn't happen.

I gather planning approval for the restauarnt has not been granted.

Not yet, but usually they get it in the end if they apply often enough/go to appeal.
