Hi,
I'm a multihull sailor from Finland. It's all frozen here now. 15C below, snow everywhere.
My previous boat was a 30' trimaran, beautiful, fast and sporty.
I December I bought a catamaran, 40' Outremer 1991, which is now in Bridgeport, CT, USA. This was the second Outremer i ever saw, the first one was in France and awfull and this one was nice enough when I went to see her to the States. I haven't sailed an Outremer yet, this one was on hard when I saw her.
In April the 18th I'll fly to US to sail the boat to Finland with two friends and the seller of the boat (good sign?) and my wife and our dog will join me in the Netherlands, because UK is awfull with dogs.
I'm retired, my wife still works but we have relateives in South Africa, Scheyshells, Australia, UK and Netherlands so I think that when we now have an ocean going boat we will be around.
What do you think?

Tiny bit excited to do my first ocean crossing !
The longest distance till now is from Finland to The Netherlands and back with my 30' trimaran . So guess this is going to be different but a lot of fun.

An Outremer 40 was outright winner of the multihull class in ARC 2001. When we arrived after what we thought was a pretty quick 15 days he'd already been and gone!

There isn't much space inside compared to most cats of that length and of course you must keep the weight right down to get the performance they are capable of.

When moving from a 30' trimaran to a 40' catamaran I think there is not so much I can fill the new boat , like moving from 25m2 condo into a 200m2 house, the old furniture doesn't make it crowded. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
The speed I still have to experience: this is the first time for me to go into a slowlier boat than the previous.
I have been looking at the multi 2000 rating numbers and they don't look so bad but as you said , have to watch what to carry.

I was looking to buy Lillyspeed... you beat me to her..
Let us know about the trip back across the pond.. what speed do you make Etc
