My old boat has never had an anode fitted, as far as I can tell. However, having just bought a new shiny propeller I'm thinking I should maybe fit one.

So reading back through previous threads, I came across prop shaft nut anodes, which till then I didn't know existed! It also cleared up why I had a female thread in the end of the shaft! My question is do these sort of anodes have to be bonded, and if they do, how?

You will probably gather from the question that I'm not really up to speed with things electrical, so simplicity in your responses will be much appreciated

Cheers

When talking about bonding anodes it means they must a have a low resistance electrical connection with the item they are to protect. A prop nut or a shaft anode will have that connection unless you deliberately insulate it in some way.

whether you need to fit one is unlikely if your new prop is a good quality manganese bronze one. But not harm in fitting one except to your pocket due to the cost of regular replacement. It will be consumed whether it is doing anything useful or not!
