Depends on your hull, how its wired, and what you are trying to protect.

With GRP, the chances are you are trying to protect the prop, shaft, bracket (if there is one), shaft log/gland & the rudder. If this is the case, then a shaft anode, plus one on the rudder (if metal) may well suffice. However any bracket and the log/gland may not be protected because any sort of insulative shaft bearing material would prevent electrical connection to the anode.

Shaft anodes (as far as I am aware) tend to be small and may well require replacing twice a year in some places.

IF you fit hull anodes and you get them in the right place, you must connect all underwarer metal parts back to the anode. This is usually done by through hull fixings and conductors run inside the hull to all through hull fixings from thee parts you are trying to protect. You may well require a brush assembly to ensure good electrical connection to the shaft.

Steel hull, just weld on sufficient anodes and make possibly fit a shaft brush.

Probbaly the best advice is to contact the manufacturers (regret I have no catalogs for contact details here) and then talk to other boaters in your area.

Talk to MG Duff who make anodes. I've found them very helpful in the past.
