My lead keel has quite a few white corrosion-like spots on it.

I assume electrolisis.

Last time it was up I replaced some plastic skin fittings with bronze.

Should I add another anode to the prop shaft?

As a far as i can tell bronze skin fittings will not cause any trouble to a lead keel. Presumably you have not bonded them together anyway.

Stainless steels could case problems if bonded to it but a small area compared with the large area of the keel is not likely to be much bother.

Why do you want to add another anode to the shaft? Are you seeing signs of corrosion of the shaft or the prop?

New to me - my 11 year old lead keel is pristine (but then that's Bav building for you, he says!)

Are you sure it's corrosion - ie soft deteriorating, powdery, not bonded to the main lead keel etc? Could be impurities in the casting...

When I was swimming I thought it was corrosion on the lead. The bloke who has since slipped it for me (scheduled antifoul) says he thinks it's an undercoat or similar that's carked.

The boat's still on the hard and I'll see it tomorrow - but I suspect the slipway has since cleaned it, faired it and painted it.

Thanks both for your advice.
