on Sunday, starting at around 2.30ish.

Anyone else going to be there?

30 odd rafts, go through The Swellies at low water slack - well, those that make it that far - and onwards to Menai Bridge Pier.

This was last years race.

It's going to take more than that lot to pull Kawasaki of the rocks /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I expect that is one of the compulsory tasks the rafters have to undertake.

Plan to be there from Sat evening to Monday. Should be good fun.
When last seen SWMBO was grumbling about not going to the boat if the weather was the same as the last bank holiday !! Wet Windy and not a even a hint of fish in the Menai

Looks like I may be on my own then /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now listen ere You lot.I would av You know I was one of the Origional Instigators of the Gig.
Back in 86 I think!
The Police, The Coastgard, All the Armed Forces and most of the Baroom Experts were all agin it.
However over the Years the Shindig had it,s ups and downs.
Think one year there were 70 odd "vessels"!
Good turnout predicted for Sunday.
Weather not too promising.
One problem could occur however.
Start being later than usual, mid afternoon.
Pubs will have been open for a while--- could be interesting!!

Not involved this time.
Fixing me cutlass bearing.
Plus helping Baffled.
Moving His Four Winns to Menai Park and Launch facility for the rest of the Season.
Acces at the slipway at Menai Bridge virtually 24/7 + petrol can obtained by filling up whilst on the trailer at the Garage just round the corner.
So He aint facing the Tub Treck and all that goes with it.
So we have to get that sorted before the Rafts smother the slipway.

Anyway the Rocks don,t stick out as far as they used to 25 years ago.

Cos I,ve knocked the tops of most of em and destroyed a fair few! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There,s plenty of fish in the Menai.
I notice Your boat is now on a more sensible berth and further from Major Castastrophe,s
So the fishing should improve by that token alone /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And now you are wearing down the sand off Bangor pier.

I must take a look at this Menai Park and Launch facility. Is it expensive?

I may try some fishing on Saturday, but I must also get the house ready for new tenant. Have family coming down on Sunday, so look out for my stunning Mexican niece in law, who will be gracing my humble bateau and making tequila strawberry margaritas.

An introduction to the Senorita and a swift tequila strawberry margerita, could have a remarkable affect on the Annual fees at the Park and Launch in Menai!

We'll throw you one as we pass Briza high and dry. Do you want it on the rocks?

How do you want your eggs, flour and water bombs delivered? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Only cos you've knocked all the corners off them.

Glad to hear that the rafting is proceeding,in my old haunt;Shoreham, the raft race has been scuppered by Insurance and H&S concerns.

I don't think you scrolled down far enough when reading Kawasaki's post! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If H&S issues scuppered the Shoreham bash, I wonder how long a raft race through the Swellies will last?

Mea culpa, but in mitigation, Auchan are doing a particularly nice Sauvignon at €1.40 a bottle and as i'm sailing across next week on a replen I have to empty the cellar!

I was pissed; what excuse are the others using?

I just rely on stupidity to explain away my mistakes.

Crack a Sauvignon for me!

I believe (although I could be wrong) that this year's race very nearly didn't happen due to insurance worries.

We entered a couple of years back and if we'd known the race was going ahead earlier, we would have entered this year. Here's the 'Mary Miggins':

Looks a little bit too professionally built. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There wasn't even a small chance of it falling apart!

Home stretch, just off The Platters and still going strong.
