A lot of mast are angled aft for certain purposes. My sailing boat also has an angle (Actually in the brochure this is mentioned to be 16 degress). However, could a mast with in mast furling main sail be angled?
Thanks

Yes, it makes sense to say this about the sail. What about the furling mechanism though? Can this long drum also bend?
PS: Sorry, if I am asking silly questions.

Your first post talked about the mast being "angled", now you're talking about "bend". The two things are different. For inmast furling, the mast needs to be straight. However, this straight mast needn't be vertical, ie it can be angled. But it can't be bent.

Yes agreed PVB, I too thought he was talking rake when he quoted degrees.

If you buy a so called performance boat, with mast bend (gawd knows why anyone would want one loll) then dont try to fit in mast systems.. easisy way, presuming you would be buying a new mast ?.. is to fit the mast with no bend.

Or, not bother as they are, or can be, a right royal pain in the asss !

Why can't you bend the mast with inmast furling, I bend mine seldon rig with inmast and do not have any problems with it.

Ah, pvb is correct. I guess I am mixing the two words (English is not my mother tongue). Yes, the mast is angled not bend. It looks to be angled from the boom height and above so it shouldn't affect the furling mechanism, so indeed it is straight but not vertical.
Thanks
