And we thought a litre of Red was expensive

Yeah,,,,,,but, no,,,,but,,,,,,don't small aircraft return about 35 m.p.g., or summat ? (Just something I'd heard...... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif)

In which case, it's not so bad.

£1.55 a litre. Bargain,i'll take 10 litres please!!!! Ouch, but from memory,it always was more costly than petrol.

And there was me thinking of retaking my flying lessons again, hmmm, hopefully Gloucestershire Airport will be cheaper /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My 4 seater Grumman AA5-B would do about 45ltr per hour at about 140kts... so that is about 3nm / ltr... great economy when compared with boats.

Being someone who has come from a lifetime of flying light aircraft I still say boats are more economic than planes... by a significant amount when you look at value for money.

A 4 seater plane is about £150,000 new... compare that with what you can get in a boat for that money and look at what you can do with a boat compared with a plane. For even a small twin engined aircraft you would spend £250,000 and that would just be a 4 seater with very limited baggage capability. For a descent 6-8 seater you would be looking at £400,000. All very comparable with, say, a 40-50ft boat... except that you can't live on a aircraft.

I agree that you can get much cheaper 2nd hand but I am comparing new for new here.

I think boats give much better value that aircraft.
