for cruising, but I'm now in the Great Lakes/Lake Huron/Georgian Bay aboard a 53 ft Hatteras on a 4-week cruise and the area is b----y spectacular. Vast expanses of water, vast expanses of forest, numerous islands and peace, perfect peace. Weather has been hot but today has cooled to more comfy temp.

It's hot and sunny in Fleetwood today - the mountains to the North are lost in the deep haze of high English Summer and Heysham power station looks just sublime.
Sparkling waters lap along the white sand of the Wyre channel and the beach is a rich myriad of deckchairs and knotted hankies.
No-one is here demanding that I have a nice day and they all spell humour and colour correctly. What a simply splendid thing is life.

Well at least they all say boy - not buwee.
Actually today there are no deckchairs or knotted hankies - just a few pacamacs and a dog peeing on one of yesterday's sandcastles

So I guess it's off to the Ship Inn for a pint and a bite to eat then?

Well, in defence of N. Americans, they are almost always sociable, even if they do say 'Have a nice day' a lot, unlike most Brits who don't even raise their eyes to you.

Kev, good points: very spacious, huge amounts of storage space, very quiet at cruise (Detroits), easy access to engines and genny, great enclosed aft deck. This is a '79 with upgrades, incl VacuFlush toilets(3). Bad points: does not like even a 3ft beam sea and rocks like the clappers; difficult stern line handling because of enclosed aft deck. Other than that it's a wondeful liveaboard .
