From where I live at Herne Bay, on a clear evening we can see way up north, including Bradwell Power Station and the windmills close to it, 24 miles away from our viewpoint.
But the other evening when the vis was really good, we saw what appear to be 5 or 6 more turbines, closer and further west - a transit on the chart suggests these might be on Foulness close to the Crouch. Not been that way yet this year - is that where they are?

They are probably on Middlewick farm at the bottom of the crouch, on the north shore

Could they be the land-based set near Bradwell power station?
Er, no, they are the ones I meant by ".. including Bradwell Power Station and the windmills close to it..."
From here it's almost wall to wall windmills on a clear day. Starting from the east, we can see the Thanet Farm, then the London Array in the NE, the Gunfleet to the N, the Kentish Flats N thro NNW, and through them the Bradwell ones plus the big ones on shore behind Clacton. Then there are the new ones I'm asking about in the NW, then there's a gap as you sweep round to the west, and finally two more up the Swale on Elmley Marshes.
I've not added them up accurately but that's over 260 turbines.

You've some view from your home!

The wind farm you can see is the new one at Middlewick.

Pardon my ignorance - where is Middlewick?
Not actually the view from my house - we live a couple of streets inland from the clifftop, being averse to NE gales in mid-winter! Lovely scenic walks start just two minutes away, though, in fact that's where I'm off to now, to get the paper!

Middlewick is on the Dengie marshes and lies roughly between Bradwell and Burnham on Crouch. Middlewick refers to Middlewick Farm where the turbines are sited.

What is the light pollution like?

I gave up trying to go through Foulger's Gat at night a few weeks ago, almost every turbing had fixed lights on rather than just FlY5s at the corners that I could not identify the safe water marks.

I am in conversation with RYA Eastern Region about it as in my opinion too much light is as much of a hazard to navigation as too little.

If it wasn't for the roof on the Ship pub I could see Hernia Bay from my house in one direction and I can see the Shard and Canary Wharf in the other (28 miles on a clear night). Not a turbine in sight :)
