At last, a photograph! P80 of the June issue of PBO shows a photograph of a tackle designed to hang an anchor weight (or chum or angel depending on your preference) from a chain. Ive been describing these things to chandlers for years - what are they called, and does anyone know if they're still available? I've been using a large bow shackle, but with varying degrees of difficulty. Yours hopefully......

I use a snatch block on our anchor line with some old chain bundled & tied up to the snatch block. Another line allows the whole lot to be retrieved. Haven't used it in anger yet but it does reduce the swing when at anchor in a crowded place and I have let a bit more line out just in case ...
