Anchoring - Oh Gawd...

The real problem when in the marina is not the anchor being on the roller, but skippers mooring selfishly, however my real objection to anchors on rollers is the extra damage it causes in an collision accident although of course it is hard to quanitfy how many incidents are prevented by quickly deployed anchors.

[/ QUOTE ] He probably knows exactly what he's doing. I mean, why have a secure fastening to a bent anchor if you can get a new one on the insurance?

But don't let's get embroiled in another debate about what level of incompetence amounts to failure to take reasonable care to avoid loss.

Any anchor can bent.. mostly when using an all chain line.. that’s why the use of a snubber is highly recommended..
