I’m out to Mallorca next week and am planning a trip round to Port Soller from Portals, hoping to anchor up for 1 or 2 nights.
Has anyone any recent experience of anchoring there, given new posiedonia laws?
Thanks

You can anchor in the bay - I never have done.

Bear in mind if the weather goes south on that coast there is no where to go ! Not an issue per secby do check the next few days forecast. Marina is expensive if not the ports ib. I am 17m and it was about 300 a night.

Thanks for reply. LOA 22m. Buoy field sounds a good option. Do you know who runs the buoy field, assuming you can book!

Thanks re weather. Noted and will be keeping a close look! I think I’ll struggle to get in marina and much prefer anchor or buoy. Cheers

I don’t believe there are any bouys.

Come out, turn right and head a few miles to Collobra. It’s lovely and no on therecwjen the trip boats leave

As most on here know, Calobra is one of my favourites but the weather has to be good.

The marina in Soller on the other hand is safe in all conditions.

OK - I will email them.
They are in Figuera at the moment so depends on the internet availability.
I think they are planning to head across to Menorca today though.
I will let you know their experiences in Soller this week.

BTW - AFAIK, there aren't buoys in Soller.

That was quick - this was the reply from one of them:-

Hi Mike, yes we left Soller yesterday, plenty of room, did not see any bouys, so all was very much how it was last year.
Looking forward to seeing you later in the season.

And another report

Hola Mike
Left Soller a couple of days ago now in Alcudia via Cala St Vincent for the night
Anchoring:
Soller, no apparent problems with any weed police etc. Anchoring generally very good in the sandy spots especially closer in near the swim bouys opposite the Esplendido Hotel, one can if close enough to the swim bouys kedge out into the swim area keeping your line astern, this keeps you into any swell and avoids anyone anchoring or coming behind you.
There’s is some soft weed around and as we found out this time a few discarded mooring blocks and chains. We actually got snagged in one and I thought we might need a diver but our trusty windlass with a bit of strain managed to lift them and our anchor clear and with the help of a fellow yachty we managed to distangle ourselves.!!!
Fuel dock easy and accessible but no fresh water.
But Soller is well worth the trip.

Cala St Vincent: beautiful clear water and sand, no jellyfish, very good anchoring unless the wind from the East through North unless very light winds and swell. Bars and beaches ashore are lovely.

Alcudia: No apparent problem with the weed police, anchoring to the South just outside the marina in 3 metres of sand, bit shallow nearer the town beach, dinghy on to the side beach that leads up to the marina, I guess you know that the Mike.

Pollenca: not been there this trip yet but going round soon but we are hearing rumours that the weed police are getting a tad agitated , will let you know.

Thank you all for very helpful responses. I'll give it a go next week assuming weather OK (currently looks OK) and report back any issues.

If the weather turns or doesn't work then the buoys in Port Andraatz are quite cheap - 60 for me (18m) if i recall last year, and it is always pretty protected. No buoys in Soller at least not last year. If you do go to Soller then stop for lunch at Foradada if you haven't been or already know it. Paella is awesome in my view and a great spot plus the bay is often calm with the prevailing winds. not far from Soller as you come from Andraatz.

Just back from Mallorca where boating was perfect. Had a look at Soller for anchoring but not enough room on the sand to be comfortable so ended up in Foradada. Had the anchorage more or less to ourselves after 7pm which was about perfect as photo hopefully shows.

I would thoroughly recommend in right conditions.
