Hi all,
Coming from Queensland these tides and drying harbours are new to me, and hoping to learn a thing or two from you all before I learn the hard way…
What’s the accepted protocol/practice for anchoring in a small drying Harbour a. assuming I want to leave when the tide rises, or b. perhaps stay on through till a future high tide?
I have a bilge keeler, and assuming I have the Harbour Masters go ahead, do I hold a position using a stern and a bow anchor as the tide drops, and as the boat settles on the bottom retrieve the stern anchor so when the tide rises I can move fwd, retrieve the bow anchor and head off? So if I decide to stay through the high tide I just leave both anchors in place?
Sorry695B2BBB-8298-4605-AF3A-72C03BA0284C.jpeg, long question. Trying to work through a common sense process in my mind but not having done it, I’m sure there are things I’m not considering.
Cheers, Dave

I suspect the moorings at Folkestone are all resident owned. The harbour master is always the person to ask, in advance. Usually you will be given a space alongside a wall, hopefully with a ladder, so long lines and preferably your own wooden board for protection (although harbours often supply).
