Hi

I am going to be anchoring in some of the rivers in Brittany this summer. It will be neaps - but the tides still run quite strong. I have read about laying out 2 anchor - one up stream and the other downstream. What sort of tidal stream strengths should I be considering this as opposed to laying out 1 anchor. I have the right sized ground tackle for my boat and i appreciate much depends on wind strength - but say in a F3-4 - are there any guidelines... Thanks sam

I've anchored a few times in the Treguiere River. Just did the usual thing as if anchoring at sea and had no problems.
I suspect there is a lot of silt there which allows the anchor to dig in deep and makes for better holding than we are used to.
Can't say what the rest of Brittany is like except anchored once to wait for the tide to turn at the entrance to the Morbihan Sea. The tide rips through the entrance at a huge rate, but still no problems.
