I'm planning a trip out with friends this coming weekend, and we are looking for recommendations of nice anchorages on Isle of Wight where we can anchor up and head over to the beach on dinghy / paddle boards (e.g. it is permitted)?

You’re looking at south westerly winds this weekend albeit light (F2/3). Priory Bay would be a good choice. Nice beach with a short walk to Seaview for ice creams, cafe and pub.

I have done quite a bit around the IoW in the past but not much in the current boat.
But just before we took her away from the Solent for the last time, we had a quick forum meet in Whitecliffe Bay.

Our Princess was brand new - virtually the first time that SWMBO and I had taken her out on our own.
But we did meet up with a few reprobates.
I wonder who on this forum will remember them?

So, for this thread, - this is Whitecliffe Bay

Lovely boat! And that looks like a very nice anchorage with the cliffs etc :)

Roger Rat? (Can’t see the people on my phone I’m looking at the fair line!)

Yes, on the way back, we decided to see how 50 tons jumps the wake from a Targa 40

We have done loads of things with her since then.
Tomorrow, SWMBO and I are off to Spain for 6 weeks on her - working trip this time - she is 13 years old now!!.

It’s not the Isle of Wight but just across at the opening to Chichester Harbour, but East Head is the nicest beach in the region, has a great anchorage and is usually always sheltered if the wind or waves are up a bit.
