What would be the recommended anchor type/size/weight including length of chain and rope for use in Irish Sea costal waters on a Finnmaster 6100 MC . Moored in marina but will be anchored off island whilst I go ashore. Thank you.

Suggest you look at the recommendations from anchor manufacturers. A good guide is on the Jimmy Green website. A good general type of anchor is a Delta, 6kg for your size boat with 6mm chain and 10 or 12mm rope. some people prefer all chain but it is weighty on a smaller boat and you may find mixed chain rope better. 10m chain and 30m of rope spliced onto it would be typical. That would allow you to anchor in up to 8-10m of water.

I run a similar sized Yamarin and I have a 8kgs anchor with 4meters of 10mm chain and then rope possibly 20 or 30 meters worth. Once the anchor set i have never had an issue with dragging

The rubber Straking on the front of my Finnmaster 6100 where the anchor sits took a thump on the nose previously and is split. Can you cut out the rounded section at the nose and replace it (with what?] or can it be repaired with something? Thank you.
