You lot out there never cease to amaze me with your wealth of knowledge(and cunning!) So.. Where is the best place to buy new anchor chain ? Do I bite the bullet and go down the local chandlers or do I try manufacturers ?
All I want is 30Mtr of 8mm.
Anybody have any experiences. thanks in advance.

Go direct to the chainmaker!
I bought replacement chain last winter from:
Bradney Chain & Engineering Co. Ltd.
Quarry Road
DUDLEY
DY2 0EB
Tel: 01384 636233
Fax: 01384 634289
Contact: Chris Wiggins (Director)

who were considerably cheaper than my chandler's best offer.

I checked out a jumble - didn't seem to be coming in any cheaper and couldn't get the size/length I wanted anyway. Also went to Port Solent - and got 10% discount.

Calibrated or uncalibrated?

If you need to run it through an anchor windlass, then it has to be calibrated. I've not found any cheap source for this.
