Prior our Scottish, Irish, Brittanny, Iberian, Canarian and Med cruise with a 42' deck saloon ketch, displacing 12 tons, I would like to have some views of lengths and dimensions of anchor cables.
We usually anchor quite much and want to be well prepared for riding out some bad weather at anchor.
This is what we got:
1. Main anchor on bow roller with electrical windlass, a 26 kg/55 lbs Delta with 56 m of 10 mm chain. I´m thinking of splicing 40 m multiplait to the chain. Is it enough?
2. Spare/second anchor, 21 kg/45 lbs CQR. How long chain/warp cable would you suggest?
3. Emergency anchor, 35 kg Fisherman. How long chain/warp do you suggest.
I have 15 m of 15 mm chain and 25 m 30 mm warp in the cellar. Would this be usable for the Fisherman? I beleive the chain is to heavy and the warp both to short and heavy for the whole thing to be handled.
4. Permanently on an aft-mounted roller I have a 15 kg Bruce with 6m 8mm chain and 56 m 'ankarolina' as a kedge. I plan to leave this as it is.
